What We've Learned Working Across Cranbrook
The Georgian and Victorian properties on Mount Pleasant and The Pantiles often require conservation-sympathetic joinery and period-appropriate moulding profiles
Access & logistics: Tunbridge Wells town centre has controlled parking zones. We arrange permits in advance for properties in the CPZ and discuss any access restrictions during the survey.
Seasonal tip: The High Weald is one of the wettest areas in the South East. External projects like decking and garden rooms benefit from being scheduled in the drier months of May through September.
Common Considerations for Tunbridge Wells Properties
- Matching existing period moulding profiles in Victorian and Edwardian homes
- High ceilings requiring scaffolding or tower access for panelling and shelving
- Oak-framed properties in rural areas with seasonal timber movement
Our team has spent countless days working on decking jobs around Dunorlan Park and the wider Cranbrook area. Every project adds to the practical, on-the-ground knowledge we bring to your home.

Our Proven Decking Process
No guesswork on site. This is the order we work in on a balcony decking job in Cranbrook:
- 1
Garden Survey
We visit your garden, assess the ground conditions, and discuss your requirements — size, shape, levels, and material preference. On balcony decking jobs in Cranbrook this is where most of the questions get answered.
- 2
Decking Design
We create a design including dimensions, board direction, step positions, and any additional features like lighting or balustrades. This is where the detail of your balcony decking in Cranbrook gets pinned down.
- 3
Ground Preparation
The area is cleared, levelled, and prepared with a weed membrane. Concrete pads or adjustable pedestals are positioned for the framework. Materials are checked against the Cranbrook quote before this stage starts.
- 4
Framework Construction
A strong, level joist framework is constructed from treated timber, with proper spacing and ventilation for long-term durability. Materials are checked against the Cranbrook quote before this stage starts.
- 5
Board Laying
Decking boards are laid with consistent spacing, secured with screws or hidden clips, and trimmed neatly at all edges. This is where the detail of your balcony decking in Cranbrook gets pinned down.
- 6
Finishing & Extras
Steps, fascia boards, balustrades, and lighting are installed. The deck is cleaned and any staining or oiling is applied. On balcony decking jobs in Cranbrook this is where most of the questions get answered.
Any changes you ask for in Cranbrook are priced and agreed before we carry them out.
