Nearly every dropped gate we are called to has the same root cause: a hanging post that was too light, set too shallow, or left sitting in water. The gate then takes the blame. We size and set the posts for the leaf they carry, keep the timber clear of standing moisture, and use hinges rated for the weight so the gate still latches in two years.

Do you make gates to measure?
Yes. Most openings are not a standard size, particularly on older properties, so gates are usually made to suit the gap, the ground level and the way the gate needs to swing.
Can you replace just the posts and rehang my existing gate?
Often, yes. If the gate frame is still square and sound, new posts and correctly rated hinges will get it working again. We will tell you honestly if the gate itself is past repair.
What timber do you use for gates?
It depends on the position and the look you want. We talk through softwood and hardwood options at the visit, including how each behaves in an exposed spot and what maintenance it needs.
Do you fit driveway gates as well as side gates?
Yes. Driveway gates carry far more weight and wind load, so the post size, setting and hinge specification all step up. That is priced after seeing the opening.
