Owner-occupiers usually want lasting quality and a finish they're proud to live with.
Landlords typically want hard-wearing, compliant work with clear paperwork and minimal void time.
Tailored to Cranbrook Homes
Edwardian villas in Southborough and Pembury have high ceilings and tall skirting boards that need matching when fitting new trim
Access & logistics: Tunbridge Wells town centre has controlled parking zones. We arrange permits in advance for properties in the CPZ and discuss any access restrictions during the survey.
Seasonal tip: The High Weald is one of the wettest areas in the South East. External projects like decking and garden rooms benefit from being scheduled in the drier months of May through September.
Common Considerations for Tunbridge Wells Properties
- Matching existing period moulding profiles in Victorian and Edwardian homes
- High ceilings requiring scaffolding or tower access for panelling and shelving
- Oak-framed properties in rural areas with seasonal timber movement
Ask any of our customers near Mount Pleasant what they value most about working with us, and you'll hear the same things: punctuality, fair pricing, and properly finished decking work. We don't believe those should be rare qualities — but in this trade, they often are.
How We Work — Our Decking Process
Every timber decking project we take on in Cranbrook follows the same clear sequence, so you always know what happens next:
- 1
Garden Survey
We visit your garden, assess the ground conditions, and discuss your requirements — size, shape, levels, and material preference. We photograph this stage so you can see the work even if you are out.
- 2
Decking Design
We create a design including dimensions, board direction, step positions, and any additional features like lighting or balustrades. We photograph this stage so you can see the work even if you are out.
- 3
Ground Preparation
The area is cleared, levelled, and prepared with a weed membrane. Concrete pads or adjustable pedestals are positioned for the framework. Nothing at this stage is left to assumption on a Cranbrook job.
- 4
Framework Construction
A strong, level joist framework is constructed from treated timber, with proper spacing and ventilation for long-term durability. Nothing at this stage is left to assumption on a Cranbrook job.
- 5
Board Laying
Decking boards are laid with consistent spacing, secured with screws or hidden clips, and trimmed neatly at all edges. We confirm this stage with you before moving on, every time in Cranbrook.
- 6
Finishing & Extras
Steps, fascia boards, balustrades, and lighting are installed. The deck is cleaned and any staining or oiling is applied. We confirm this stage with you before moving on, every time in Cranbrook.
One team sees the timber decking work through in Cranbrook, so there is always someone accountable.
