Shirley is one of our most active areas for landscaping work, and for good reason. Local homeowners want craftsmen who understand their properties, respect their homes, and deliver the kind of finish that lasts. DP Carpentry Property Services ticks every one of those boxes. Whether you need a single fence installation job or a larger transformation, we'd love to help.
We install new fencing from the ground up — digging post holes, setting concrete, and fitting gravel boards, panels, and trellis to create a strong, attractive boundary for your property.
Serving Shirley & Croydon
If you're in Shirley (CR0) or nearby — Croydon (3mi), South Croydon (5mi), Purley (6mi) — your fence installation project is well within our regular working area. The M25 J7 keeps logistics simple and quotes accurate.
What Shirley Homes Typically Need
Shirley's housing stock leans heavily on Victorian terrace, Art Deco property and suburban semi. Each carries different considerations for fence installation — wall construction, ceiling heights, original mouldings and access all vary, and we adjust the approach accordingly.
Our Fence Installation Scope of Work
- Concrete and timber post options
- Gravel boards and kick boards
- All panel types and heights
- Post hole digging and concreting
- Old fence removal and disposal
Why Shirley Properties Are Different
South Croydon, Purley, and Sanderstead have more traditional housing stock with period features
Access & logistics: Croydon's one-way systems and tram routes require careful navigation. We plan routes in advance and use side streets for larger vehicle access where possible.
Seasonal tip: Properties on the chalk downland at the south of the borough drain well but can experience cold snaps earlier than the lower-lying areas. We factor this into material acclimatisation times for flooring.
Common Considerations for Croydon Properties
- Mix of modern apartments (lightweight walls) and period houses (solid walls) requiring different approaches
- High-rise apartments with limited lift access for large materials like flooring and kitchen units
- Properties on chalk at Kenley and Coulsdon with different moisture characteristics than clay areas
Shirley sits near the Whitgift Centre area, and we're often passing through on our way to projects in this part of Croydon. That regular presence means quick site visits, fast quote turnarounds, and faster start dates than firms travelling from further afield.

What does a fence installation quote for Shirley include?
Labour, materials, fixings, waste removal and VAT where it applies, all itemised. We price Shirley jobs after seeing the property, so the figure accounts for access, parking around CR0 and the condition of what is already there.
Will fence installation suit an older property in Shirley?
A lot of Shirley housing is Victorian terrace and Art Deco property, where walls are rarely square and floors rarely level. We scribe and pack rather than force a fit, which is why fence installation in older CR0 homes needs measuring on site rather than ordering off a plan.
